The next day

Our room, its the one in the middle :)

Ok, might be a little disjointed, just had a nightmare (can't recall) and its 2.30am.
Mark on a deckchair at Karon Beach
Today was meant to be a shopping day, but it ended up being a check out prices day.  This frustrated Mark to the nth degree.  But lets start at the beginning.
Breakfast - my goodness this place puts on a good breakfast.  Whatever you can imagine.  Kiddie cereals, sausages, full English, proper Asian style - Marko is going Asian and having fried rice.  Nice juices, fruit including the tiniest bananas in history - will take  the camera to breakfast tomorrow to get a teeny banana photo.  We ate outside, quite close to the road.   Ben got very excited about the motorbikes, there are MILLIONS of motorbikes here, most with helmetless riders, and often with two or three people.  So he spent a few minutes saying "oooh motorbike, oooh van, ooooh motorbike, motorbike oooh van" you get the picture?

Then we went to the beach across the road.  Everyone enjoyed that, its super flat out far and has one breaking wave in close.  According to all the paperwork, its quite a dangerous beach, rips, strong currents... yes that was evident, but we stayed close in shore. Ryan stuck with Jamie and Ben was with me.  Ben was gorgeous (again) he got the giggles with every wave, especially if we had to jump.
Ryan just a little excited at Karon Beach
Didn't stay too long there, then we jumped straight into the hotel pool and the boys JUMPED in over and over and over again.

Mark and Ryan in the Tuk Tuk
Ben's first ride in a Tuk Tuk (mine too)
Then around 11.45am we left to go to a shopping centre in Patong to get a stroller and have a look around.  I was expecting cheap strollers to be readily available, but this was not the case, really kicking myself that we didn't bring ours, but now we've got another one.

How did we travel?  TUK TUK, these things are adorable.  Its a mini Dihatsu ute (according to Mark) that has been pimped with a back cover and seats that run mostly lengthways, open back door and no seatbelts.  Ben was unconscious asleep and missed it.  Ryan loved it, he really likes the blue tuktuks and thankfully we got a red one.  The road from Karon to Patong is really hilly and the little car makes it with only a tiny struggle.  Fascinating road rules over here!
And yes you should be embarrassed boy, all this wonderful food and you won't even taste it.  Burger King chips for him
Shopping centre was non descript - like any Westfield.  Got the stroller and am now cheering.  Wandered the outside areas which were amazing.  Had some lunch - just food court stuff.  Ryan is being a real pain with food, we had to get him chips.  Then we walked some of the side streets, lots of stalls with tshirts, dresses etc.

Ben awake his time, this one was very cutely pimped.

Exhausted, hot Benny returning from our adventure, he's carrying his own water bottle

The anti-climactic birthday party

Ben fell asleep.  He refused his afternoon nap, had two swims, a long walk (well long carry), a walk along the beach, lots of bed jumping, walks up three flights of stairs to visit the roof.

Frangipani on the rooftop
A nice wooden swing chair within the hotel

The view of the pool from the top floor

Walked to the left at 5pm tonight, went to a market type place, I think it was actually a bazaar... it was fantastic.  Not very pushy.  Did my first haggle, supposedly I paid too much (according to Jamie), but I got a bikini for 600 baht.  Must do myself a spreadsheet of what the conversion is, as I have NO CLUE at this stage.  Love my new swimmers.  There are so many ladies here SO much fatter that me in very tiny bikinis that I felt kind of weird in my current bathers are they are quite covered, and everyone else has it all *out there* what am I hiding.

The restaurant we had dinner at tonight - The Ging

Smiling for the camera.

Then we went to Old Phuket Road, which is really just a classier (I guess) shopping strip.  Went to a restaurant which served so many dishes it was crazy.  Jamie had sweet n sour beef, Mark had a fried rice with seafood and egg, I had pad thai and Ryan had a satay chicken.  As mentioned before, Ben had nothing as he was asleep.  Tomorrow we'll find him a cake and will probably get him a blow up pool toy for his birthday.

Poor Benny... he missed it
Tomorrow, I must steal the camera so we can prove that Jamie was on this holiday as well.

Thailand Trip - Day One Travelling

My plan in the future is to wipe this day from my memory, in all likelihood this is what will happen (I have a crap memory).  It was very stressful.  Like a self fulfilling prophecy... I thought it would be crap so it was.

The three boys at Melb Airport
I'll copy and paste the "essay" I wrote my sister on Facebook last night.  It sums it up pretty good.

Jo Geary:
  • How was the flight? I am dying to hear

  • Oh Jo it was awful. From my opinion, they grizzled the entire way. Ben kicked the seat of the lady in front so much. We had junk everywhere, it was awful. Had to be picked up at 7am for our 10.30 flight. Then it was delayed utnil just after 11.

  • Then we finally got to KL it was so hot that my shins started melting. Had to walk on the tarmac a long way. Our bags were too heavy and then Marko got a major case of freakout culture shock. Had to wait at KL airport for approx 4 hrs. It was fine, but very crowded there. Flight left at 8.40 local time (11pm we think Melb time)
  • - Kuala Lumpur Airport

Next flight was great. Ben fell asleep prior to take off, Ryan was sweet. Arrive at Phuket, get bags very easily but now we have two VERY tired toddlers, 4 carry on lugggage and two huge suitcases.
  • Weird, hot-faced Christy with our almost birthday boy

  • Christy Storer

Jamie organises a taxi to take us... was a scammy organisation, they stopped at a shop somewhere to discuss whether we wanted to take some tours etc. The driver was weird, kept jumping out and sped, ran red lights. Mark was FREAKING out, I was stressed but trying to keep a brave face for Mark, and now its closer to 2am melb time. Anyway the driver then tells us our hotel is closed, do we wanto to stay at one of their hotels. "No mate, just take us to the Ramada" So he finally drops us at some place that was closed. as in boarded up, says sorry that's the only Ramada I know, so should I take you to our hotel. Again, we are in the wrong place, but we'll make our own way there. Now its closer to 3am.... all the bags and we start walking what seems like 2km until we get to to the beach then a very nice taxi driver tells us our hotel is only 500m further down the road. Arrive and the staff are gorgeous. I'm nearly crying, Mark is wanting to leave. Jamie was angry. and the kids were stressed. It was so fucking hot. Signed in, the place is beautiful... the boys had a shower in the "rain shower head" Ryan snuggles up in his king single bed and Benno in his cot. Mark had a shower and a debrief. We have an enormous king size with a gloriuos pool just outside, but the door is hard to unlock... all will be fine. Need to find something delightful for Mark to help him adjust (me too to be honest)

My apologies to my mother for the colourful language, oh and never ask how I am - 12 hours later, she still hasn't replied to my epic.

Thailand Trip - Day Two (Ben's Birthday)

Me at Karon Beach

Along a very busy street - very very hot

The boys put themselves in that pose at the lobby of our hotel

Karon Beach - just across the road from our hotel

This is mine and Jamie's room - its a king size, I didn't even know he was there!

Easter 2013

Easter Sunday was at our house this year.  Jo, Mark and the kids came over just after 9.30 for our Easter Egg hunt.

Seeing Jo and I were raised by the same parents, its not surprising we have very similar outlooks on the non-traditional or commercial side of Easter.  Neither of us "get" the Easter Bunny, why has that become a thing recently.  We are all for the chocolate, but getting up early to see if the EB has been and then having the kids hyped up on choc from 5.30 am just does not make sense to us.  Phew.  Finally we agree on something.

The 4 little kids all got a basket each, Sheena and Roy made theirs at school.  Sheena's was very dodgy, Roy's had structure and was actually quite nice.  My little two got pink ones from K-mart.  I'm sure they will be psychologically scarred for life.

There was a decent amount of eggs *hidden* in the grass in the backyard.  To be fair, once they'd all been collected, they went back into the collective container and re-distributed.

It was a good hunt.

Here is a cute action shot.  Ryan is running, tongue is out for added balance and concentration.

Here is our posed one.  Sheena was already inside gobbling up her stash.  Roy looks gorgeous.
Ben is doing his "cheese" face, which now necessitates a head tilt.
Ryan is showing off his basket, and I believe also "cheesing"

Gearing up

Went though all the emails from our hotel.  Its nerve racking, hope its as we are expecting, two rooms right next to each other.  Our room looks so nice, its open to the pool, so we're going to have to be neat or we're letting the team down.

Spent the night at Nathalia with the inlaws last night.  I would be quick to call it the best trip there ever.  It was just me and the kids, it was more relaxed than other times and we achieved something.  Spent 2.5hrs shovelling wood chips to a new garden bed.  Even little Ben had a rake.  Felt so good to give something back to them.  They are always helping us.  Our dogs are staying up there whilst we go away.  They are loving it.  Get to bark at cows, have a huge area to explore. They are lazy, so they are safe.

Today was the Bush Bash - sort of an Easter Festival.  There was a Turtle Parade, all the kids dressed up as turtles or butterflys/moths and walked down the main street.  Ryan really got into it.  Ben was a little bit little for the backpacks so he carried a stick with a cardboard witchety grub on it.  Then an author read her book about a long neck turtle which was partly written in the local aboriginal language.  I would have liked to get the book , but it was $25.. a bit much I think.  There was a display of live turtles that the boys really got into it.  Mark on the other hand is all about the food, more to the point, the drinks.

Going backwards

It was my thing, my proud mamma moment, my smugness.

Ryan and toilet training.  Just before he turned 3 we decided to ditch the nappies as he was showing interest in the toilet and zoom, it was pretty much done.  Took approx 3 days, just a couple of accidents and then he got it.  After a month or so, it occurred to me that he was dry most nights too, so we ditched the night nappy too.  He never required to be reminded (yes smug), he woke himself up and then woke me up to go to the toilet over night.  It was great.  A little annoying as he woke up several times a night to go to the toilet, but I thought well he's waking up so don't complain - I may have complained a couple of times.

Then about 10 days ago.  He was drenched in the morning.
9 days ago.  Drenched at midnight.
8 days ago.  Drenched at midnight and again in the morning.
7 days ago.  Drenched at some point through the night.
6 days ago.  Purchased some pullups and explained they were undies and to wake up and go to the toilet.  Drenched - including the sheet - in the morning.
5 days ago.  Pull ups - wet.
4 days ago.  OK enough is enough, I'll wake him.  Midnight, fully wet pull up, 5am dry.
3 days ago.  Missed the midnight and drenched including sheet in the morning.
2 days ago.  Woke at midnight - wet pull up, tossed and turned in bed with me, but did not wet again until morning.
Yesterday.    Missed getting him up at midnight, wet pull up at 4.45am and then went to the loo and then DID NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP.

Get the picture?? Ok I was pretty clear about it.

Why would this happen?  I've been a little/a lot cranky lately.  The excitement of our holiday?  But he was SO good, and now is SO bad.  I've limited his milk tonight.  Will get him up as I go to bed, hopefully he'll go straight back to sleep.  And then wake him again at 4-5am and again please go back to sleep.  Its just so odd.  suggestions?  Anyone??

HOLIDAYS

I'm officially on holiday.  I have 23 days off.  The first week, is BUSY.

Tomorrow is cleaning, swimming, last minute shopping.

Friday - Good Friday - the kids, dogs and I drive to my in-laws for the night.  We are dropping the dogs off for a holiday, having a little catch up time and going to the Nathalia Easter Parade.

Back home Saturday, have a quick catch up with the Dunn/Storer family.

Sunday - Easter Sunday - my sister and her kids come over for a visit.  We'll have an Easter Egg hunt and some lunch.

Monday - Easter Monday - packing, generally freaking out and probably several mad dashes to the shops

Tuesday (with no associated Easter attached to it) is fly out day.  Our flight leaves at 10.30, so I'm guessing we get there 8.30 - 9ish.  Then onto Air Asia for our long flight.  8-10 hours for a Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, then a 4 hour layover then a 2 hour flight to Phuket.  Getting to our hotel at 9.30pm local time, which I believe is 1:30am Melbourne time.
Can anyone say exhausting?

Walk for the Kids

Did the Walk for the Kids today.

Its part of the RCH Good Friday appeal, which is held every year here in Melbourne Town.  Supposedly they raised $2million.

We were in the "short course" of 5.5km in the white zone.  White zone is for walkers, prams, wheelchairs etc.  I went with Jo and her friend Keri.

Despite all of those people.  We were last for 85% of the course.

We had to stop for the other two to go to the loo, the line up was big, and there were only 3 toilets at this spot at we were at the back of the line, so 20 minutes later, we re commenced the walk.  Not another person was in sight at this stage.  Once we hit past Birrarung Marr, on a tollway road, a car was backing along the road.  Weird the roads were closed for the FunRun.  The bloke in the car said "ladies, anyone behind you"  Nope we think we're last... he said, that's a shame I'm meant to be last.  And then he super slowly followed us for 4km!  It was excruciating.

So many people cheered us on.  Some teased us for having an ambulance behind us.  Then we overtook a woman with what I'm guessing to be cerebral palsy and we ended up being 2nd last.  Managed to chat the entire way and it was very pleasant.

At the end we were part of the tens of thousands that were milling around The Myer Music Bowl and the atmosphere was happy and sweaty.

Afterwards Jo and I went out for brunch and that was also quite delightful - despite no butter.

Caught the train home.

Books and bedtime

I was a naughty mother, not a fan of reading aloud.
Recently I sang my little heart out.

The last two weeks, the boys have been obsessed with books.  Ryan has memorised some of the books and can "read" them himself.

They laugh at the jokes.  Make up side story lines.

So at bed time, we are reading about 4 books, two songs (the favourite being Humpty Dumpty), kisses goodnight,  they have their milk and then I do the blast off.

Stand at the door, hand hovers over the light switch.

Five

Four

Three

Two

One...

Blast off.

Light goes off, mum leaves the room.  Thanks for playing, we're asleep now.

Long day

Hi!

Just thought I'd share my day... you know, with myself.

Up to have a shower before the little boys wake up, who am I kidding?
Both boys wake up at 6:55 and need a cuddle.  Put Mickey Mouse Funhouse on my phone and they both hang out on my bed watching that whilst I have my shower (this is a normal start to the day)
Wake Marko up and kick him out of bed, didn't want to get up today.  Even Ben says to him "in the shower" in a very bossy voice.
Ryan and Ben want Weetbix and thankfully they pretty much feed themselves.
Open the garage door for Jamie to come home.
Have the coffee machine ready for Jamie to make me a latte :)
Little boys want a hot chocolate, so have to make them for them, in Mark's special double walled cups.  Awesome milk moustaches in tiny faces.  Teach them to use the cloth napkins that I have made to wipe their faces.
Mark sees that hot choc is on offer, so make one more!

Just to let you know.  Ryan is naked for all of this.

Get two little boys dressed whilst they think they are playing a game of chasey - its challenging.

Make my lunch, convince Mark to make his own lunch (I do interact with Mark as well, give him a morning cuddle and then turn bossy).  Put the dishwasher on, take all of the recycling out and then put all the kids in the car to head off to work.

Drop Mark off at the shopping centre and he walks the a block and a half to school.  Head to childcare and drop of the littlies.  Ben's class was already outside and Ryan's class was learning about opposites (using flash cards)... when I picked him up I asked him "how did you go learning about opposites" the reply "oh mum, learning is hard"

Work was busy today. Lots of health assessments, careplans, flu vaccines, trying to put some order into the recall list, I feel I'm losing the battle with the recall list, not sure how much effort to put into it.

After work, picked up the kids and then dropped in home for a change of nappy and some spare clothes, then off to Connie & Paul's for dinner.  The boys love playing with Toby and looking/cuddling Zahli.  Had a super delicious dinner of schnitzel with a cornflake & parmesan cheese crumb, it was the best schnitzel I've ever had.  We ducked out for icecream and the boys were covered in chocolate creaminess.

Finally home at 7.45pm.  Boys went into the shower and Marko played his xbox. They are metrosexual kids, they like body wash of the puff rather than soap!  Then it was another game of chasey whilst getting them in their pjs.
Read three stories

Sang the usual songs - Bananas in Pyjamas, Twinkle Twinkle little star, Humpty Dumpty, If you're Happy and you Know it.
Milk for the fellas and then they went to sleep.

THEN... 4 loads of washing done and hung out. Marko emptied the dishwasher. I attempted some Easter craft, don't think it'll work, so I think it'll be a papermache basket for the Easter Egg hunt.

Of course I've also been Facebooking and writing this mammoth blog post.

Things I notice about today - no Jamie.  He came home from work at 7.30am, I left at 8am.  He left for work at 5.30pm, I got home at 5.35pm... yeah that works, thankfully that only happens on a Friday.

Now its 11pm, I forgot to have my Sifrol at 8.30, so the Restless Leg Syndrome is starting to kick in.  We are at day 6 of a heatwave, and its not due to break until Wednesday or Thursday of next week... every day over 30 degrees and its March.  I for one am sick of it.  Insomnia is easing, but I'm still not sleeping very well.

"I'm not happy"
"I need a big milk"
"I need the blue one" in regards to the colour of his cup
"Benny needs you"
"I don't like it" in regards to anything that resembles healthy food.

Facebook

This is what my Facebook status feed would look like today if I wanted to piss everyone off.

- Swimming today.
- Benno tried to fall asleep in the pool, lay on my shoulder looking very cute.
- Awww Ben fell asleep on my shoulder after refusing to go to bed.  First time since he was atiny baby.
- Community Service Announcement for those in TUllamarine. Sky the one-eyed wonder dog is missing. Let us know if you find him.
- Sky walked up the drive way - he's home.
- Procrastination +

Challenges

I plan to do a photo a day, actually two if I can.  First is a day by day challenge with a word prompt.  The other is my boys - out of respect for the eldest, its of the little two, but hopefully Mark will join them in more than one throughout the year.  So without further ado, here is the first two days.

01 Jan 2013

Prompt: Today - The boys sitting together having lunch.

The two of them, looking through the bottom of the trampoline at the dogs

02 Jan 2013

FOOD

Grocery shopping today.  I do love to grocery shop.
If my printer was plugged in, I'd have a full menu plan.  Why did I not just hand write it.
Tonight it something delicious that I am going to find at LaManna

Some things I need to make, summer veg and haloumi salad.
A roast of some sort
I need to finish that lemon slice.

OK time to get the boys up.  Daycare today.  A free day for me.

30 December 2012

Tomorrow is New Years Eve.

I don't care for NYE, never have.  Its not my thing.  I don't drink more than two drinks in any sitting, I hate (HATE) seeing drunk people, I'm not a fan of crowds and to be perfectly honest, fireworks are BORING.  We sort of want to go and stay in town, then the boys can see the fireworks and we don't need to be in a crush.  But I feel this is yet another pipe dream.  One we talk about but never actually do.

Adventures in grocery shopping.

I almost always shop alone.  Fast.  Relatively daily.

Today, I ventured out with my two youngest children.  Ben is thankfully still happy in the trolley.  Ryan now walks (he is 3 you know)

Made Ryan help!  He collected the carrots, cucumbers, picked the fruit.  He's still quite a bit short for a lot of things, but he loved helping.  He does this gorgeous thing with his hand "ala The Price Is Right" when he wants me to look at something.

Once we got home, I wanted to put up our "Santa Please Stop Here" sign.  I tried pushing it in.  Ground is too firm.  So I said "we need a hammer guys" inside we went and Ryan went rushing off.  He came back with his toy hammer, bless his little heart.

Its confirmed.

My youngest son is completely nuts.

He's the busiest person in the family.

Photos

For some unknown reason I have stopped taking photos.  Haven't taken any with our real camera for months and months.  This is a bad thing when you have teeny tiny children.

But I do use my phone camera quite a bit and it goes everywhere - and I mean everywhere - with me.

I wish my three boys would sit nicely together somewhere so I can get a shot of them.  Maybe on the slide at the park.  That'd be a fun photo.

Appointments

I finally took Ben to the Maternal & Child Health Nurse today for his one year old check up (he is 16 months old).  This was the biggest waste of time I have almost ever experienced.

Firstly she didn't introduce herself or have a name tag on.  She coughed most of the time, fair enough you have a cold, but go get a drink of water to pretend you are doing something about it.  Was much more interested in her computer, sending an email to transfer us to her centre.

She got me to fill in a piece of paper about stuff I'm worried about.  Wasn't very interesting, but covered the basics.  Then we (I mean Ben) did a strip, had his fontanelle checked, checked his little balls were in the right place then a weigh and measure.

Although he is not yet 10kg, I am not to be concerned about his lack of height or weight, he is a small version of normal.

I said I thought he was bowlegged, but that is normal for developing walkers, after a bit his legs will go more knock-kneed, then straighten out to normal shape.

Ryan was reading a book, and was identifying all of the pictures in the book.  She said that was really good.

So I felt rushed, and pushed out.  Not at all what I was expecting from my local (Victorian) MCHN.

Olympics

I've always had Olympic fever.  Love it, become an expert on everything.

Not much of a fan of the coverage, was watching the womens 400m IM this morning and when Stephanie Rice was scraping in second last the commentary was still all "she's making good ground", not gee the Chinese girl Ye is going awesome.

I loved the opening ceremony and as a rule, I don't like them.  But English history is so amazing, so full, so rich that its ok.  The musical montage was great.  Also, as shown before, MR BEAN is fantastic.

So, tonight, I'll be enjoying some swimming, rowing (lots of row row row your boat - to get the boys enthused), hopefully some gymnastics.

Need to relax

I'm not convinced the title will live up to what I'm posting about, mainly because I don't yet know what I'm going to post about.

Everything is getting the better of me these day, my fuse is short and I don't like it.

STUCK

After a long time, Ryan is finally talking.  We have discovered he is a complete chatterbox with his volume set to 11.  On the way home from daycare in the car from the back seat I heard.

"Stuck, stuck, stuck"

"What's stuck Ryan?"

"ME"

Well duh, that is kind of the idea.

I like hosting shin-digs

Today we had our dearest little chap's first birthday party.

Just so hard to actually believe little Ben is one year old.  In some ways it seems so much longer.  This last year has been very, very intense.

Today was a "Milk and Cookies" themed party, which in all honesty didn't really take off.

When we lived here 9 years ago we used our back door almost exclusively as "the door" but this time around because of now having two dogs and two little people, its easier not to have to tackle the back gate and just use the front door.  Connie still uses the back, but she is the only one.  The sliding door is hard to unlock as well.  What does this have to do with the party you ask?? Well I set up the "dessert table" to face the back door, it was quite visually exciting, I had bunting, a balloon centrepiece, a cupcake stand and other deliciousnesses. It looked great when approached from the back door.  But everyone came in through the front!  SO when you turn around the corner it was nice, but not the WOW factor I was after.

We had sausages in bread, hamburgers and coleslaw for the main course.
A pretty spectacular cake (if I do say so myself) done in the shape of a 1.
Heaps of cookies, cake pops, m&m's and jaffas.
Sugar overload, let me tell you.

Presents were great too...

Nan & Pop = clothes
Margie & Frankie-Pop = coat
Dunn family = Tonka truck
Geary family = Moon car (to go with the rocket we already have)
Holloway family = Trike with a trailer
Pulcifer family = clothes.
We got him a tractor that makes an awful amount of noise.

11 Questions

1. What's your favorite place to shop?
Absolutely 100% not a shopper.  I do love grocery shopping and am totally digging my La Manna supermarket in Essendon.

For clothes, well I just suck at shopping, but do manage to get some ok items at Suzanne Grey.  I really want to check out Zara in the next week or so.  See if that is possible.  Might go into town early tomorrow before work.

2. What 5 people (dead or alive) would be at your dream dinner party?
Not a fan of a question like this.  They'd have to be chatters as I'm not so good at keeping conversations going.

3. Who's your biggest style icon?
I'd love to dress like Elsie Larson.  Well not really, she does it a bit too weird for me.  But would like her confidence.  I really want to wear dresses.

4.Favorite band / musician?
Yawn, music, sorry just isn't my thing.  I love LMFAO for the fun of their music.  I'm a bit of a fan of Pitbull, I think he's damned sexy, but completely and utterly gross at the same time.

5. Who's your favorite actor or actress?
I always like Drew Barrymore.

6.The coolest person that you've ever met?
Penni Perrin Koster.  I totally have a girl crush on her.

7. What's your dream job?
Job, don't really care.  Something that makes a lot of money, or better still, something totally worthwhile that I don't get paid for.

8. Your favorite snack food?
Peanut butter and creamed honey sandwiches.  I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and tea (oh and morning/afternoon tea too)

9. What's something you wish more people knew about you?
Everyone already knows too much about me.  I'm an oversharer.

10. One of your silliest moments?
I  love dancing with my boys, and the days I can get Jamie and Mark to join in too are just the best.

11. Your greatest accomplishment?
The three boys that are my sons.  OBVIOUS.

Some tough times.

I have NOT enjoyed the past 5 weeks.  Not one bit.

Jamie moved away for work.  So essentially I've been a single parent and I hate it.  I hate the lack of company in the evening, I hate not being able to share the load.

Mark started high school and we had some major anxiety to deal with.  Over the past three days, he's been suffering from a spasm-y stomach, the doc thinks it might be "migraine stomach aches".

Ryan has become super clingy, we attempted to put him in the "big boy bed" but after two weeks of hell, I convinced myself that it was ok to put him back in the cot, so I rearranged the boys room for the 5th or 6th time and his sleeping pattern normalised.  Daycare has been a nightmare for Ryan, he doesn't enjoy* being dropped off, he screams and carries on, clings to me like a koala and pretty much needs to be pried away by the staff who always reassure me that the day improves.  Currently Ryan is sick, he has a double ear infection and congested lungs.  He is on penicillin and ventolin (via a spacer & mask)

Ben is still brilliant.  He cut more teeth without a fuss, currently has 4 top teeth and two bottom teeth.  He commando crawls very quickly and is very inquisitive and quite independent.  He's not a great fan of cuddles but will give a kiss if you "pucker" at him.  He is very smiley and loves the remote controls, 5c pieces and food!  Ben also has a bronchospasm and is on ventolin via a spacer & mask.

I didn't cope with agency work.  Being called at 5am to cancel a shift or be given one is just not my cup of tea.  Dropping the boys off at 6am and dashing to my work with Mr Clingy was more than I could stand.  Thankfully I am starting my "real job" on Tuesday at St Vincent's Private Hospital, I'm stupidly excited about it.  I just have a great feeling that its going to be good.  That our work situation will work out.  Jamie will find a contract job at the airport down here that starts at 7 or 8am, so he can do the daycare drop off... men handle it so much better.... or is that Jamie will handle it better than me.

* this is a super understatement.

First Day of Year 8

My biggest boy started school this morning, and as usual, nerves took hold.

It really looks like a nice school.  Very big, about 1400 kids from year 7 -12.  His old school had around 800 but only 7-10.

The uniform is nice, grey shorts/pants, a white shirt, white socks and black shoes.  Sport uniform is green shorts and a green shirt, which to me begs the question, why the heck are there two uniforms, make the whole lot the sport uniform and be done with it.

Changes from Waratah to Gladdy Park are:
  • Lockers
  • Your own personal copy of the text books
  • Diary
  • 6 classes a day, not 5
Gladstone Park appears to be the school Waratah wants to be.  There is a full gym (along with exercise equipment), 300 seat theatre, hockey, basketball, AFL, soccer, cricket, and handball areas.  Lovely grounds.

We did a dummy run yesterday - took us 40 minutes to walk there, Mark later in the day rode there in 10 mintues!

Today I drove him, tomorrow (depending on how today went) will be on the bike.

I hope he will allow me to take a photo when he gets home.  Fingers crossed.
